Component 5 "Community-based
Water Use" is in Amran!
From early November 2007 there was a new family
living in Amran, the team working on Community-based Water
Supply have opened their office near to the Cement Factory. With
a focus on bring some water resources management and development
decisions down to the District level the team will be working in
the districts of Dhi Bin, Kharef, Khamer and Al Sawdah. A survey
of the community and institutional stakeholders is underway with
a team of 10 graduates from Amran town, and information gathered
is planned to be analysed over the Eid period.
In the new year training activities will be proposed covering
community members, Local Council and Governorate staff. And
later in the year there will be opportunities for community
groups and Local Councils to participate in decision making for
new water projects, and improving or rehabilitating old ones.
Component 5 is being implemented by a cooperative team
comprising GFA Consulting Ltd and Otterwasser Ltd from Germany,
Ghayth Aqauatech Ltd from Sana'a.
