Cooperation between IWRM and NWRA for
accelerating capacity development to achieve good governance
The gtz-IWRM in close cooperation with NWRA
management has launched a teamwork discussions about NWRA
internal and external issues in a way that NWRA staff is
comprehensively involved through thematic teams representing all
NWRA tasks.
Four NWRA staff teams have been selected to deal with legal and
institutional, technical, cooperation, administrative and
financial issues that cover all relevant NWRA tasks. Each team
organizes a separate weekly meeting while a joint meeting for
all teams is organized on Wednesday of each week.
IWRM provides moderation assistance to NWRA staff- teams to
enable free exchange of ideas, define issues and develop
methodologies of discussions. Such approach encourages
self-expression and self-initiatives of solutions to reflect
actual needs of NWRA to improve its image and its future
impacts.
The objectives of the teamwork discussions and workshop are
preliminary to enhance a commonly shared ownership of NWRA staff
with regard to NWRA mandate and responsibility through self
assessment of strengths and weaknesses and current and visible
opportunities and threats (SWOT) on a transparent and
participatory manner that may lead to inside-out strengthening
of NWRA capacities. This work will end with an internal workshop
that defines challenges, hence abstracts possible strategic
reorientation options that enable improvement of NWRA
performance.
