Workshop on “Private Sector Participation and Communication Strategy in the Urban Water and Sanitation Sector in Yemen”

Under the generous auspice of the Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Abdul Rahman Fadhle Al Eryani, the GTZ/Technical Secretariat/ Reform of the Institutional Framework in the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Sector in cooperation with the World Bank held a workshop on “Private Sector Participation (PSP) and Communication Strategy in the Urban Water Sector in Yemen” on 2-3 March 2010 at Mövenpick Hotel in Sana’a.

The overall objective of this workshop was to assess the feasibility of private sector participation (PSP) and communication strategy in order to improve performance and coverage of water and sanitation services in urban water sector in Yemen consistent with the national water strategy (NWSSIP) update.

Renowned speakers, mostly practitioners, from the region and other parts of the world were invited to share their experiences, lessons learned, success and failure stories under different water supply and sanitation services modalities.

The workshop was attended by more than 100 participants representing all stakeholders, including government agencies; other development partners and private sectors.
